The Bio/interfaces Group at the Integrated Systems Laboratory (Laboratoire des Systmes IntŽgrŽs - LSI) studies design technologies for circuits and systems in Biomedical Applications with special focused on Bioelectronics and Biophysics of the nano and bio structured thin molecular films integrated on micro and nano fabricated silicon chips

The research of the group targets the design and fabrication of biosensors and bio-interfaces, such as DNA and/or protein arrays, to probe biological regulation mechanisms for both clinical and bio-discovery objectives. Research involves both the design of novel biosensing devices, systems, and software tools. The research is specially focused on the development of new bio/CMOS interfaces by also integrating nano- and bio- materials in the electrochemical-sensing surface. The used approach corresponds to a co-design of the different layers (the bio, the nano, and the CMOS frontend) to improve the integration of these highly heterogeneous systems. The research foresees the design of frontend circuits for both electrochemical and imaging sensors, the development of in situ computational units with biosensors, and the software algorithms for data analysis. Specific applications are in the area of implanted medical devices for continuous real-time metabolic markers and drugs monitoring systems. Other applications are in the area of full systems (including, nano/bio/sensors, electronics, and fluidics) for continuous real-time monitoring of cell cultures.
