The symposium will be held on the campus of the EPFL
(Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne),
located beautifully on the shores of the lake of Geneva.

The meeting takes place in building SG.
Coming with the metro M1 from Lausanne:
- At the stop `EPFL', you take the underground exit in direction of the train, turn left at the bottom, and then you go straight up the stairs
and continue between two new buildings in an ugly blueish-green
colour (building BM and BP on the map).
- When you have passed the building on your right, a plaza opens. You turn right and enter the yellow building with the cafeteria.
- Inside you walk down a flight of stairs
and you will see the registration
desk in the big open hall.
To get to the lecture hall SG1 , take the elevator (or walk up)
to level 2.
From the Hotels/Town Center to the EPFL:
- you walk down to the valley (rue centrale),
turn right and walk on the valley floor,
until you see the Metro station `Flon'
marked by M. It's just after you have passed under the `Grand Pont'.

- You by a ticket for 2.40 CHF.
- You take the Metro Ouest, also called M1 or TSOL.
- You get off at the stop marked EPFL. The big buildings
(when the train approaches on your left-hand side) are the EPFL.

There are direct trains from Zurich airport (2h30min)
and Geneva airport (40 min) to Lausanne.
The trains run twice an hour and leave directly
from the underground railway station in Geneva airport
or Zurich airport.
From the Lausanne train station to the EPFL:
- you walk across the place in front of the train
station and enter on the opposite side in the Metro area
marked by M.
(have a look of the downtown map of Lausanne).
- You by a ticket for 2.40 CHF.
- You take the Metro one stop up the hill (Place de Flon)
where you change to the Metro Ouest, also called M1 or TSOL
(It waits on the
tracks to your left).
- You get off at the stop marked EPFL.The big buildings
(when the train approaches on your left-hand side) are the EPFL.

Travelling by Plane:
Visitors planning to arrive by plane can choose
Geneva airport (the closest - 40 min train ride to Lausanne), or
Zurich (the
largest - 2h 30 min train ride to Lausanne ). from there
proceed to Lausanne by train (see above).

or Geneva airport.
The trains run twice an hour and leave directly
from the underground railway station in Geneva airport
or Zurich airport.
Accessing by Car:
In Switzerland highways are labelled by green signs and are composed of the letter A followed by the
corresponding number. You must buy a 40 CHF windscreen sticker
(one year validity) at the border or petrol stations.
From Airport Geneva-Cointrin, take highway A1 to Lausanne.
From Airport Zurich-Kloten, take highway A1 to Bern. Then follow A12 - A9 to Lausanne.
From Airport Basel-Mulhouse, follow highway A3 to Basel. Then take A2 - A1 to Bern and after A12 - A9 to Lausanne.
Follow the direction to Lausanne sud and take the exit Université-EPFL.
